September 16, 2021 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) creates different platforms for team members to showcase their potentials, develop their talents outside of work and achieve work-life balance. This year, Galaxy Got Talent, one of GEG’s most popular annual employee events, returned with the “Galaxy Got Talent 2.0” Talent Upgraded Video Competition. By encouraging team members to upload a one-minute performance video through a designated digital platform, the competition allows team members to break boundaries and continue to showcase their talents on a brand new stage. The competition attracted the active participation of team members from various departments. Ten videos were shortlisted by the organizing committee for display on various internal channels at GEG’s back-of-house areas and social media platforms for six grand awards. In addition, an awards presentation ceremony was held earlier.
The ten shortlisted videos cover different performances, from magic show to dancing, Chinese dramatic art of face-changing, beatboxing, and others. The contestants not only showcased their spectacular talents, but also their video-editing skills, visual effect techniques and creativity. The Best Video Award went to Mr. Lo U Iat from the F&B Operations & Culinary Department. To celebrate and applaud the contestants on their efforts, earlier this week, GEG invited the ten finalists and their supporters to Broadway Theatre for the Galaxy Got Talent 2021 Awards Presentation Ceremony. GEG executives also attended the ceremony to present the awards to the winners, including Mr. Robert Drake, Group Chief Financial Officer; Mr. Raymond Yap, Senior Director – Integrated Resort Services; Mr. Richard Longhurst, Director of Operations, Galaxy Macau™ and Director of Gaming Development and Optimization Services; Mr. Andy Lee, Deputy Director of Operations of StarWorld Hotel; Mr. Elmen Lee, Senior Vice President of Business Development and City Clubs Operations; and Ms. Trancy Koh, Chairperson of the GEG Staff Social Club. Additionally, this year’s organizing committee also invited Mr. Maxim Bessmertyni, Macau’s renowned movie director; and Mr. Akimoto Chan, a celebrated Macau photographer to join GEG executives on the judges panel.
Mr. Lo U Iat, winner of the Best Video Award, said, “I have always wanted to show the different side of me through Galaxy Got Talent. I was eager to join after learning that the company would continue to provide this platform for us to showcase our talents, and that an online format would be adopted so that we can adhere to the pandemic prevention and control guidelines and continue to strive for personal development. During the preparation of the video, I received great support from my department heads and colleagues. They even participated in the shooting which had helped enrich the video. Our team spirit is the key of our success!” The organizing committee is committed to every detail of the event each year so that team members can enjoy presenting their talents on stage. This year, the organizing committee invited GEG executives to take part by pre-recording a performance video that was shown during the award presentation ceremony. To show their support, a number of GEG executives also attended the ceremony in person. In addition, since pandemic prevention and control have become part of the new normal, GEG continued to observe the pandemic prevention guidelines issued by the Macau SAR Government and arranged a live broadcast of the awards presentation ceremony at the back-of-house areas, including staff canteens, so that more team members could enjoy the show and cheer for the contestants. Each of the live broadcast spots boomed with team members’ applauses.
GEG values its team members as one of the most important assets and continues to host a variety of activities to enrich team members’ daily lives and help them to explore their potentials and interests outside of work. This year marks the 12th year that GEG has hosted the Galaxy Got Talent, which has witnessed a vast number of team members blossom on the stage. Moving forward, GEG will continue to organize more recreation and entertainment activities to help team members achieve work-life balance.
