December 13, 2022 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) proactively supports the Macau SAR Government’s “Macau Thrives on Education” and “Building Macau through Talent Training” policies. Since 2011, GEG has been co-organizing the GEG Youth Achievement Program (YAP) with the Macau Management Association (MMA). For 11 consecutive years, the YAP has provided training and career enhancement to over 3,000 participants aged 18 to 29. Today, GEG held a ceremony for the 11th YAP Award Presentation and the 12th YAP Launch in the 8/F Ballroom of StarWorld Hotel. The ceremony recognizes the outstanding performance of participants, highlights their learning achievements and welcomes new intakes.

In his speech, Mr. Alex Mok, Council Vice Chairman of MMA said, “Talent reserve and elite training are the cornerstones of the sustainable development and progress of society. Over the years, MMA and GEG have cultivated thousands of young elites. I believe that through the enlightening platform of YAP, the new generation can thrive and become strong pillars of the community in their future careers.” Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG, said in his speech, “GEG believes that talent is one of the most important treasures and continues to earmark considerable resources for supporting and launching diversified talent cultivation programs, with hopes of fostering local young people’s comprehensive development and cultivating future talent for society. We hope that local youths can equip themselves and enhance their competitiveness for future opportunities through the YAP platform.”
During the ceremony, GEG and MMA representatives presented various awards to outstanding participants, including the champion and first and second runners-up of the Final Competition, as well as the newly established YAP Community Care Award and others. Additionally, Mr. Jairo Calangi, YAP member and former member of the Macau Inter-school Basketball Competition, was invited to share his experience of pursuing his dreams. He encouraged participants to uphold the YAP “Reach Out, Reach Beyond” spirit to continuously achieve personal breakthroughs. This year, focusing on “Tourism+”, the Final Competition invited participants to design tourism projects, thereby enhancing their understanding of Macau’s position as a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure”. The team JARDIM DA ALMA won the championship in the Final Competition with their innovative and immersive tourism experience plan designed to improve physical and mental wellness. Meanwhile, the planned activities of the upcoming 12th YAP, themed “Self-awareness” and “Youth Development”, were introduced at the ceremony. The new edition will continue to help participants enhance competitiveness and lay a solid foundation for their future career development and life planning.
Centered on “Big Health” and “Technology”, the 11th YAP equipped participants with professional knowledge and skills to broaden their horizons through various workshops and activities. These included visits to the Macau Sandbox VR Experience at the Macau Esports Training Center and to the Funny Eye Brewery. Also integrated into the program were patriotic elements. Participants visited the National Security Education Exhibition and participated in the GEG National Education Series: Seminar on the 100th Anniversary of the Communist Youth League of China. Furthermore, the 11th YAP also arranged for participants to take part in a series of community activities organized by GEG, hoping to encourage them to offer a hand to the needy and contribute to the community through practical action.
Attaching great importance to young people’s comprehensive development, GEG has hosted a variety of talent-cultivation programs and academic competitions. These include title-sponsoring two annual events: the GEG Macau Cup – Youth National Education Competition, which boasts more than 110,000 participants over 14 consecutive years, and GEG Presents: Popular Science Activities in Schools on Chinese Drones, which since 2019 has showcased the country’s cutting-edge drone technology in 30 local schools. Moving forward, GEG will continue to provide young people with diversified learning platforms and assist Macau in cultivating its future talent.
