April 4, 2023 – As a patriotic Chinese enterprise that is deeply rooted in Macau, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has been promoting national education to its team members, local youths and the community through multi-pronged approaches, thereby deepening their knowledge and understanding of the country’s latest development and achievements. For consecutive years, GEG sought advice from the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government (“CLO”) in the Macau Special Administrative Region (“SAR”) and hosted the “Sharing Session of the NPC and CPPCC – GEG National Education Series” today at the Galaxy Auditorium of the Galaxy International Convention Center. Attended by Mr. Yang Yi, Deputy Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the CLO in the Macau SAR, GEG invited Mr. Sio Chi Wai, Deputy to the NPC; Mr. Lao Nga Wong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC; and Mr. Francis Lui, member of the CPPCC and Vice Chairman of GEG, to share their insights and profound knowledge with approximately 800 GEG executives that attended either in-person or online.
In addition to assembling approximately 650 GEG executives to join the event in-person, other executives from GEG’s offices in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Hengqin and those from GEG’s subsidiary – K. Wah Construction Materials in Hong Kong and various provinces in Eastern and Northern China and Yunnan, also actively participated via an online live broadcast. With an aim of enhancing team members’ understanding of the spirit of the “Two Sessions,” GEG also recorded the event and will produce a highlight video for replay in the back-of-house areas of its various properties. During the sharing session, the guest speakers introduced the “Two Sessions,” outlined and analyzed the Central Government’s work reports and key focuses on advancing Chinese modernization, deepening reform and open up in all respects, implementing the principles of “One Country, Two Systems” and “Patriots Governing Macau,” facilitating Macau’s “1+4” adequate economic diversification development strategy and integration with the national development through progressing the development of the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and “Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.” Following the speakers’ sharing, GEG executives also proactively raised questions to the guest speakers during the Q&A session where they benefited immensely.
Mr. Sio Chi Wai said: “The implementation of the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle has entered a new development phase. It is vital to capitalize on Macau’s strengths and to serve the country’s needs from a national perspective. Macau should shoulder the new mission of the new era entrusted by the Party to embark on a new journey. We must remain confident in our history, uphold the fundamental principles and break new ground, and continuously contribute to the sustainable development of Macau and national rejuvenation.”
Mr. Lao Nga Wong said, “Macau is seeing many opportunities and challenges, some of which relates to Macau’s integration with Hengqin, its strive for economic diversification, and of its aims of expanding its overseas customer market. Learning and understanding the spirit of the ‘Two Sessions’ will help all sectors seize new opportunities and act proactively. Macau enterprises should remain innovative and steadfast in their strategic development, as well as to seek alliance with more elite local, regional and international businesses so as to promote the high-quality development of enterprises, boost the moderate diversification of Macau’s economy and contribute to China’s modernization.”
Mr. Francis Lui expressed his gratitude to CLO for its great support to the event over the years, as well as to Mr. Sio Chi Wai and Mr. Lao Nga Wong for their generous sharing, which allow GEG team members to learn about the spirit of the “Two Sessions.” He also said, “With the rapid growth of the country’s economic strength, China’s international status and influence has been elevated unprecedentedly. Under the successful implementation and unique advantages of the ‘One Country, Two Systems,’ Macau should leverage on its position as a ‘One Center, One Platform and One Base’ and seize the development opportunities and impetus brought by the ‘Greater Bay Area’ and the ‘Intensive Zone in Hengqin’ to contribute to China’s building of a modern socialist country in all respects.” Some participating team members believed the incisive and valuable insights from guest speakers have further strengthened their interpretation of the philosophy of the “Two Sessions,” and also expressed their excitement to join the event and experience the professional and top-notch facilities at the Galaxy Auditorium.
Over the years, GEG has proactively encouraged its team members and the young generation to pay attention to national conditions, and deepen their understanding of the development trends and opportunities of the country, in hopes of advocating and carrying forward the core values of “loving the motherland and loving Macau.” GEG was among the first to promote youth national education programs in Macau through its title-sponsorship of the “GEG Macau Cup – Youth National Education Competition” for 14 consecutive years that attracted more than 110,000 participants to join throughout the years; co-organization of the GEG Youth Achievement Program (“YAP”) with the Macau Management Association for 12 consecutive years, which incorporated national and regional elements for participants to broaden their horizons and enabled them to visit the Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. Furthermore, GEG also hosted a variety of activities under the “National Education Series.” Apart from arranging YAP members and team members to participate in an extended seminar in celebration of the centenary of the founding of the Communist Youth League of China last year, GEG also continued to organize team members for visits to the “National Security Education Exhibition” with aims of enhancing their sense of national identity and pride through different initiatives. Recently, GEG also arranged its executive team members for a visit to Lingnan Business Travel Investment Group for exchange of insights, thereby facilitating the cooperation of tourism and hotel industry between cities of the Greater Bay Area. Moving forward, GEG will continue to host more related activities to support and promote the national conditions education in Macau and nurture patriotism in the community.
