Today, GEG inaugurated its Phase 3 projects at a grand opening ceremony. This milestone event not only opens a new chapter for GEG’s expansion into various business sectors but also demonstrates GEG’s unremitting efforts to facilitate the integration of culture, entertainment, sports, MICE and tourism, and showcases its steadfast dedication to Macau’s socio-economic stability and its commitment to sharing prosperity with the local community.

The ceremony was held at the Galaxy International Convention Center. Accompanied by Dr. Lui Che Woo, Chairman; Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG; Mr. Philip Cheng and Dr. Jorge Neto Valente, Directors of Galaxy Casino S.A., the officiating guests performed the ribbon-cutting and lion eye dotting ceremonies, wishing GEG a vigorous future with industry-leading development. The event’s atmosphere was elevated by a performance by globally renowned soprano Ms. He Hui, joined with nearly 50 musicians from the Macao Orchestra, conducted by Music Director and Principal Conductor Mr. Lio Kuok Man. Mr. Lio also contributed an inspiring piano performance. The event was attended by nearly 1,000 domestic and overseas guests, including dignitaries, local officials, community leaders, as well as representatives from various sectors, social organizations, enterprises and media entities, who enthusiastically applauded the performances.
Dr. Lui Che Woo said during his opening remarks, “GEG’s Phase 3 projects epitomize ‘The Future. Diversified. Celebrating Macau’s New Cultural & Entertainment Landmark.’ These projects also align with the Macau SAR Government’s policy address, which calls on us to foster the quality development of exhibitions and conventions combined with commerce and Macau’s establishment as a ‘City of Performing Arts’ and a ‘City of Sports.’ Phase 3 is also a testament to the successful implementation of the MICEE model which I proposed years ago. With this ‘MICE + Entertainment’ concept evolving into new establishments and opportunities contributing to the success of GEG and Macau, we hope to support the progress of the integrated tourism and leisure industry and share the fruitful achievements of Macau’s economic diversification with all sectors of the community.”
Mr. Francis Lui said, “Under the leadership and support of the Macau SAR Government, GEG continues to advance in a stable environment and proactively seizes the opportunities arising from post-pandemic recovery. We are focusing on non-gaming development in GEG’s Phase 3 projects in response to the changes in tourist demographics and consumption patterns.” He also indicated, “We will continue to forge ahead, set new benchmarks and strive for excellence for the overall development of the integrated tourism and leisure industry, so as to enrich Macau’s offerings as a ‘World Center of Tourism and Leisure’ and contribute to the sustainable development of the Macau community.” The Chairman and Vice Chairman both extended gratitude to their community partners and GEG team members for their unwavering support and hard work dedicated to GEG in achieving its significant business expansion.
With a focus on non-gaming elements, Galaxy Macau’s Phase 3 projects include the Galaxy International Convention Center, offering 40,000 square meters of MICE space, and the Galaxy Arena, boasting a 16,000-seat capacity. Since the commencement of operations in this year, these two world-class MICE and entertainment venues, along with other GEG venues, have hosted over 220 significant events, resonating with global tourists and residents. These events, which included conventions, exhibitions, performances and sporting events, showcased the appeal of Macau’s “tourism+.” Furthermore, Phase 3 adds two internationally distinguished hotel brands to Macau’s offerings: Andaz Macau, a vibrant lifestyle hotel celebrating local art and culture, and Raffles at Galaxy Macau, the world’s largest all-suite Raffles. Together, these two hotels provide more than 1,100 guest rooms and expand Galaxy Macau’s one-stop integrated tourism and leisure experience underpinned by a “World Class, Asian Heart” service philosophy. These projects are designed to expand tourist demographics, consolidate Macau’s strategic position as “One Center, One Platform, One Base,” and advance Macau’s economic diversification.
Looking ahead, GEG is progressing with its Phase 4 plans to construct a new integrated resort featuring multiple high-end hotel brands, extensive F&B and retail outlets, non-gaming amenities, landscaping and a water resort deck, alongside a 4,000-seat international music and performing-arts theater to invigorate the local arts and cultural scene.
Committed to its core values and supportive of the Macau SAR Government’s policies, with the unity and support of team members and the community, GEG will continue to promote Macau’s positioning as a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure,” contribute to the steadfast and successful implementation of “One Country, Two Systems” and support Macau’s integration with national development. Moving forward, GEG will further join hands with different community sectors to build a promising future for Macau.
