GEG Connects the Community through Sports with Diverse Extended Activities for the “Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao Presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group”

May 24, 2024 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has long supported and organized various international sports events through multi-pronged approaches, actively leveraging the related synergies to promote the cross-sectoral integration of “tourism + sports”, enrich Macau’s positioning as the “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”, and enhance the sports exchanges within the community at the same time. Organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, GEG and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China, the “Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group” (“Women's Volleyball Nations League Macao”) will be held at Macau’s newest and largest indoor arena – Galaxy Arena from May 28 to June 2. Today, GEG, together with the other organizers, invited athletes of the China Women’s National Volleyball Team, including Gong Xiangyu, Gao Yi, Wu Mengjie, Ni Feifan, Wang Wenhan and Zhuang Yushan, to join the “GEG Presents – Dialogue between the China Women’s National Volleyball Team and Macau’s Youth” activity and autograph session at Galaxy Macau™, exchanging and interacting with local young volleyball athletes and fans respectively, bringing together different groups in the community through sports.
The “GEG Presents – Dialogue between the China Women’s National Volleyball Team and Macau’s Youth” activity was held at Galaxy Macau this afternoon. Attended by athletes of the China Women’s National Volleyball Team; Mr. Yu Chung Hin, Director of the Volleyball Association of Macao, China; and more than 10 members of the Macau Volleyball Youth Team and Volleyball Development Team, an insightful exchange of experiences and challenges faced by professional athletes, determination to win for the country, and the resolute and forward-looking spirit and positivity of the China Women’s National Volleyball Team, was shared with local youth to inspire their confidence, potential, and contribution to the advancement of sports in Macau. During the event, a number of participants also cheered for the China Women’s National Volleyball Team in anticipation of their gallant performance at the Galaxy Arena. In addition, the athletes of the China Women’s National Volleyball Team also signed autographs and interacted closely with fans from different regions at the East Square of Galaxy Macau, creating a lively atmosphere.
As the “Women's Volleyball Nations League Macao” approaches, GEG and the other organizers are holding Macau welcome receptions for the participating teams at the Galaxy International Convention Center and Broadway Macau™, as well as inviting athletes of the China Women’s National Volleyball Team to take photos at Macau’s famous landmark, the Ruins of St. Paul’s, and at the check-in spot at the East Square of Galaxy Macau so that they can experience Macau’s mix of Chinese and Western cultures and its unique charm through “tourism + sports”. Furthermore, GEG also organized the “GEG Presents – Dialogue with Olympic Women’s Volleyball Champion Wei Qiuyue on Sports Dreams with Macau Athletes” luncheon recently, inviting Ms. Wei Qiuyue, an Olympic women’s volleyball champion and former captain of the China Women’s National Volleyball Team, to share her competition experiences and athletic journey. GEG hopes to organize a series of extended and peripheral activities prior to the sport event to support and promote the development of sports in Macau, allowing different groups in the community to experience the fun of sports at the same time, thereby supporting Macau’s establishment as the “City of Sports”.
