Monday, March 21, 2011 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has always been committed to nurturing Macau’s students. Attentive to the needs to foster the development of Macau’s young people and to promote a sustainable and competitive development of Macau’s gaming industry, GEG is preparing for the May 15, 2011 grand opening of Galaxy Macau™ Resort with the introduction of the “Galaxy Macau™ Student Exposure and Experiential Development (‘SEED’) Program”. Created for local undergraduate students, the SEED Program offers them a valuable opportunity to participate in the pre-opening of one of Macau’s most anticipated integrated resorts. In addition, students will also be one of the first to know about Galaxy Macau’s unique leisure and resort features. Through working with GEG team members at the integrated resort’s various departments, students will obtain hands-on experience in different types of work so that they will be better able to determine and pursue future career aspirations and personal development goals.
Collaborating with a number of local academic institutes including University of Macau, Institute for Tourism Studies, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Macau University of Science and Technology and University of Saint Joseph, 35 students were selected for the SEED Program. Currently working in various departments in Galaxy Macau, the students will not only witness the grand opening of the highly anticipated integrated resort, but also experience Galaxy Macau as its visitors, during the pre-opening simulation period. Those who complete their program with high commendations will also gain priority employment consideration upon graduation.
The “Galaxy Macau™ SEED Program” is a 200-hour program designed for Year 2 to 4 local university students. Mr. Paul Temple, GEG’s Vice President of Organization Development and Training said, “Embracing our ‘World Class, Asian Heart’ philosophy, Galaxy Macau shall bring to Macau one of its most spectacular and significant grand opening this year. Preparing for the success of our grand opening, GEG invited enthusiastic, energetic and talented students who are interested in working at our large integrated resort to join us in our first ever SEED Program. This experience will be valuable to them in their later careers, particularly because the apprenticeships focus on teamwork that embodies GEG’s proud ‘Asian Heart’ experience.” To commemorate the students’ completion of their SEED Program, GEG will give all participating students a SEED Program Completion Certificate, a GEG reference letter and MOP5,000 cash incentive.
