By signing a three-year cooperation agreement, the organizers are committed to the important mission of nurturing well-rounded talents.
Marking the commencement of the six-month program, “Opening Ceremony of 2015 Youth Achievement Program & Signing Ceremony of Cooperation Agreement” was held at StarWorld Hotel on Thursday. The event was officiated by Ms. Xu Ting, The Head of Department of Culture and Education, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Ms. Leong Lai, Director of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Mr. Lau Wai Meng, Sub-Director of Labor Affairs Bureau, Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG, Mr. Paul Tse, Vice Council Chairman and Honorary Secretary General of MMA, Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG and Mr. Alex Mok, Vice Council Chairman and Honorary Treasurer of MMA. We strongly believe that the program fosters Macau’s development of management talents and that both corporations and participants can greatly benefit from it.”
Mr. Philip Cheng was delighted that the program has been held for the fourth term and wished all participants a fulfilling learning experience. He said, “GEG has earlier announced the details of two projects, Galaxy Macau™ Phase 2 and Broadway at Galaxy Macau, which will inject vitality and new elements into the Macau tourism industry. The size of our team will expand from 16,000 to 24,000 team members, signifying that the tourism industry is filled with professionals. Apart from GEG, Macau as a whole is in need of talents so the cultivation of it is a top priority in the long-term development of the society.” Afterwards, all the officiating guests hosted a lighting ceremony, which signifies a better self-understanding and insight into the participants’ careers and plans after their enrollment into various courses in the next six months.
In the first three terms, “Youth Achievement Program” attracted a total of 1,360 participants. This year, the fourth term of the program will cover more extensive activities in comparison to the previous editions. Apart from a series of community events and exchanges, the participants will be given the opportunity to visit back office operations of Galaxy Macau™, such as the Wardrobe Department and how it handles nearly 3,000 team member uniforms every day. In addition, the participants may discover their potential, cultivate their sense of social identity and develop the right mindset to tackle opportunities and challenges ahead through different workshops. They will also be advised on how to construct a five-year career plan while uncovering a suitable career path.
In order to motivate participants to exceed their limits and maximize their potential, various individual and group awards will also be presented to those with outstanding performance. Participants, who have successfully completed the program, will receive certificates of recognition and will be eligible to enter a final contest where seats in the Asian City Study Tour will be awarded to the winner. The topic for the final contest is exploring ways for Macau to transform adversities into opportunities.
