Dec 27, 2016 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) is committed to promoting responsible gaming and has hosted its Responsible Gaming Awareness Week for the fourth consecutive year. Through a series of activities focused on preventing gambling with borrowed funds, GEG hopes to strengthen and enhance team members’ awareness of responsible gaming. Nearly 1,600 team members participated in the Awareness Week activities.
Volunteers from the Associação de Juventude Voluntária de Macau (“AJVM”) set up booths at GEG’s StarWorld Hotel, Galaxy Macau™, Broadway Macau™ and City Clubs to allow team members to participate in interactive games, attracting 800 team members to join. Through the games, GEG hopes to foster an understanding of responsible gaming, especially in front-line team members so that they can seek assistance if it is needed. GEG also invited two social workers from Sheng Kung Hui Gambling Counseling and Family Wellness Centre (“S.K.H.”) to host a workshop on emotional health. The speakers used case studies to demonstrate the importance of managing emotions, evaluated practical methods of dealing with emotions and discussed ways to assist people in need. This year, GEG launched a new educational game called “What You Need to Know About Gaming Behaviors”. With more than 500 team members participating, any team member who answered all the questions correctly was entered in a lucky draw for fabulous prizes, including one-night accommodation and breakfast for two at JW Marriott Hotel Macau, a massage at Galaxy Macau’s Foot Hub and food and beverages coupons.
The annual Responsible Gambling Promotion is jointly organized by Social Welfare Bureau, Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau of Macau SAR and University of Macau. Over 4,000 team members have participated in GEG’s Responsible Gaming Awareness Week since its inception. This year’s focus on preventing gambling with borrowed funds aims to urge team members to have a clear mind when gambling and to strengthen their ability to control their gaming expenditures so they can enjoy the fun of gaming without encountering personal problems as a result. GEG strives to cultivate a responsible gaming culture, with a focus on educating team members and guests in order to arouse their awareness on responsible gaming. GEG will continue to work closely with various associations and institutions to take proactive measures and organize activities to deliver information and training about responsible gaming.
