August 22, 2018 – Upholding the philosophy of “what is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community”, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) is committed to caring for people from all walks of life in Macau. GEG co-hosts a diverse range of charitable activities with various social service groups. This is the eighth year that GEG has participated in the One Day Volunteer activities organized by Associação de Juventude Voluntária de Macau (“AJVM”). By encouraging team members to volunteer for the event, GEG hopes to spread love through the Macau community.
On Sunday, GEG hosted the One Day Volunteer series’ Active Aging Event in the Banyan Tree. More than 100 elderly residents of Centro de Serviços Completos para Idosos Cheng I, Centro Integrado de Serviços de Família e Comunidade de Seac Pai Van da União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau, and Ilha Verde Community Centre participated in the event. The organizer, together with 30 GEG volunteers, prepared six games, one sachet workshop and an exciting performance for the participants. The games, including tangram puzzles and throwing bean bags, were designed to improve the participants’ hand dexterity. After the games and workshop, the participants enjoyed a variety of delectable snacks prepared by GEG’s F&B Department. Afterwards, the participants performed lively dancing and singing. The day’s excitement increased when Cross Percussion Group, the popular Broadway Food Street live performance troupe, presented their signature cooking utensils percussion act. The percussionists even invited the participants to take part in the performance, capping off the delightful afternoon on a high-spirited note.
The theme of this year’s series was “I am happy because I contribute”. AJVM hopes to propel the development of community services and foster the habit of helping in Macau. Ms. Ieong, the organizer of the event, said, “Thanks, GEG, for providing the venue and sending your volunteer team to support the event. We hope to make the elderlies feel the care and love from the community and promote the spirit of helping others among Macau residents.” Mr. Buddy Lam, Senior Vice President of Public Relations of GEG, said, “GEG cares about people from all walks of life in Macau. We have been proactively organizing social service activities and encouraging team members to volunteer. Moving forward, GEG will continue to spread love and care across Macau with our diverse range of social service activities.”
Since its establishment in 2011, the GEG Volunteer Team has participated in the One Day Volunteer event every year, with the event being held at GEG properties in recent years. By providing a premium venue and a comfortable environment, GEG hopes to ensure that the elderly participants find the event engaging and enjoyable. Going forward, GEG will continue to cooperate with social service and charitable groups, organize volunteer activities and encourage team members to participate in community services.
