Macau the 7th Club Crew World Championships

In June, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”)’s “Galaxy Stars” men’s dragon boat team finished third in the local 500m standard dragon boat race at the “2010 Macau International Dragon Boat Races”. In addition to receiving an award, “Galaxy Stars” also received a special invitation from the Macau Sport Development Board and the Macau, China Dragon Boat Association to participate in the “7th Club Crew World Championships”.
Held every two years, the “Club Crew World Championships” are sanctioned by the International Dragon Boat Federation. The Macau Sport Development Board, in association with the Macau, China Dragon Boat Association, brought the “Club Crew World Championships” to Macau and for the first time ever, “Galaxy Stars” competed against international dragon boat teams, who qualified for entry through prior regional and national race winnings.
GEG is proud of “Galaxy Stars” recognition as one of Macau’s top three dragon boat teams and is flattered and thanks the organizers for inviting “Galaxy Stars” i to compete at the “Macau 2010 7th Club Crew World Championships” at Nam Van Lake from July 29 to August 1.
In addition, GEG also congratulates the two organizers – the Macau Sport Development Board and the Macau, China Dragon Boat Association for the unprecedented success in hosting the “Macau 2010 7th Club Crew World Championships”. The “Macau 2010 7th Club Crew World Championships” attracted the participation of over 3,600 athletes from 110 clubs and 181 teams from over 15 countries and jurisdictions. . Showing their team spirit and immense support for = “Galaxy Stars”, Mr. Michael Mecca, President and Chief Operating Officer of GEG, members of GEG’s female dragon boat teams – “Galaxy Phoenix” and “Galaxy Pearl”, plus other GEG members attended the world championships to cheer for the team and witness their glory.
The world championship offered an invaluable experience for “Galaxy Stars” to compete with some of the world’s best. Up against international teams from Australia, Canada, Germany, Czech Republic and Mainland China, “Galaxy Stars” obtained first place at the
“Standard Boat Premier Open – 200M Plate Finals” and second runner-up at the “Standard Boat Premier Open – 500M Plate Finals”, placing it in the 13th and 15th spot respectively, at the “7th Club Crew World Championships”.
