August 18, 2010 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) donated MOP 1,000,000 today to assist the victims affected by the Gansu Zhouqu mudslides. Representing Dr. Lui Che Woo, Chairman of GEG andall the team members of GEG, Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG presented a cheque to Mr. Xu Ze, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR..

The torrential rain triggered massive mudslides that destroyed villages and most parts of Zhouqu County; over 1,000 people died and nearly 500 people are still missing. Buildings in the affected regions have collapsed and even buried, and many people lost their families, friends and homes. Mr. Lui said, “As a responsible corporate citizen, it is excruciating to hear about the damages and losses that this massive mudslide has brought to our fellow compatriots. On behalf of the entire GEG, I extend our deepest sympathies to all those affected. Through our donation, we hope to bring some ease to the victims and their families so that they can begin to rebuild their lives and home. Lastly, GEG would also like to extend our highest regards to those selfless and fearless relief crews and rescuers for their countless effort on the recovery works.”

On the National Day of Mourning for Gansu mudslides victims on August 15, StarWorld Hotel, a property of GEG – in its entirety – delivered its members’ deepest condolence to fellow comrades in Zhouqu County by observing a threeminute silence at the hotel’s lobby and staff dining area. In addition, flags in hotel area were also flown at half-mast while all entertainment performances were suspended for the day.
