February 14, 2012 – More than just entertainment landmarks, the spectacular Galaxy Macau™ and StarWorld Macau make great sceneries for photography. To let its team members showcase their artistic talents by capturing the wonderful moments of its flagships, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) organized the first GEG Photo Contest and collected more than 100 exquisite images from its team members. The Photographic Society of Macao was invited to be the judge and the winners were voted by GEG Team Members.
The photo contest, “Magic of GEG”, saw more than 100 photos submitted by the team members of different departments. 18 final photos were then selected by the President of the Photographic Society Mr. Cheong Io Tong and the Vice President Mr. Kuok Keng Man, based on criteria such as photography skill and style. Finally, over 1000 team members casted their votes online to select the top three winners and the 10 Consolation Award recipients.
The top three winning photos feature a full shot of Galaxy Macau, the poolside view of the Grand Resort Deck and the lobby of StarWorld Macau respectively. Awarded the first-runner up prize for his “A Search for Your Own Tranquility”, Lin Fei from Food & Beverage of Galaxy Macau expressed his heartfelt thanks to GEG for providing a platform for exchanging photography techniques. He said, “I like photography very much and I finally bought my first professional camera this year; the award I received in this competition is a big encouragement to me.”
During the award presentation ceremony, Mr. Cheong Io Tong said, “People working in the gaming industry may face a lot of pressure and they need leisure activities such as photography for stress relief, which can also help them to develop their artistic and creative sense.” He believes that GEG’s Photo Contest will help in promoting photography among gaming employees and he hopes to see more of similar activities in the future.
