“Peng On Tung”‘s Elderly Users Visited by GEG Volunteer Team
February 20, 2012 – The volunteer team of Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) visited 21 single-living elderly users of “Peng On Tung” Tele-assistance Service just before the end of Lunar New Year’s celebrations. Festive blessings were sent to the seniors through the gift bags prepared by the team.
Last Saturday, 22 members of the GEG volunteer team gathered at “Peng On Tung” Tele-assistance Service Centre, where the instructors demonstrated to them the operation of the “Peng On Tung” devices and imparted communication skills with the seniors. Divided into groups of two, the team members visited the homes of the elderly users with gift bags of macaronis and corn soup and helped them to check the “Peng On Tung” device. They also assisted the seniors to fill out a survey which documented their overall condition to ensure a better following-up for them.
Delighted by the visit of the volunteer team, Chan In Song, a user of “Peng On Tung” service for two years, said, “I am very happy that they came to visit us. I had a great time chatting with the young people and I really like the gift bag.”
The team members were pleased to have brought some festive joy to the seniors. Cindy Thu from table games department of Galaxy Macau™ said, “Although we have only spent some time chatting with the seniors and the gifts are of no great value, the smiles on their faces make me realize that little effort can already bring much happiness to others.” Hoping that the team can make a difference in the community by working together, Cindy said she would continue to devote her spare time to voluntary work.
