Drawn by the vivacity of the performance, the spectators joined in the folk dance with the cheerful performers, filling the air with a genuine carnival atmosphere.
The program kicked off at the Crystal Lobby of Galaxy Macau on Thursday afternoon. Mr. Manuel A. Troconis González, Consul General of Venezuela in Hong Kong and Macau SAR, was also present at the property with the performance group to take part in promoting the country’s culture and tourism. Gratified to see that the performance was well received by the spectators, Mr. Troconis expressed his gratitude to Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) for supporting this cultural activity. “With its outstanding resort and entertainment facilities, Galaxy Macau has attracted a large number of visitors since its opening. I am sure that by organizing traditional performance at the resort venue, we can help promote Venezuelan culture among Macau citizens and tourists from Asia,” he said.
In celebration of the National Day of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the folklore group formed by musicians and dancers has been travelling around the world to promote Venezuelan culture through traditional music and dance performance. Arriving at Macau this week, the group was offered a venue by GEG to present 6 rounds of traditional Venezuelan performance at Galaxy Macau on Thursday. Amid the joyful music and songs played with traditional musical instruments such as harp, shakers and 4-string guitar, the dancers, all dressed in elaborate and colorful attires, have fascinated the spectators with their distinctive folk dance “Joropo”.
To spread around the passion and happiness in South American culture, the performers invited the surrounding kids to join their dances. Led by the professional dancers, the young participants were able to pick up the steps quickly. Delighted to have enjoyed this fantastic cultural performance, Mr. Cheung from Hong Kong said, “I never thought that I could have seen such a special performance with my family during our stay at Galaxy Macau. The event has given us an opportunity to experience the liveliness of this country and left us with wonderful memories of the trip.”
