March 25, 2022 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) actively encourages its team members to enhance their insights of the country’s situation and development prospects, in order to reinforce their understanding of the national conditions. Following the successful completion of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 13th National People’s Congress (“NPC”) and the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (“CPPCC”), a.k.a. the “Two Sessions” earlier this month, GEG sought the advice of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government (“CLO”) in the Macau Special Administrative Region (“SAR”) and the support of the Macao Foundation and Macao Daily News, and hosted the “Sharing Session of the NPC and CPPCC – GEG National Education Series” today. Attended by Mr. Sun Yaohua, Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the CLO in the Macau SAR, GEG invited Mr. Lok Po, Deputy of the NPC and Director of Macao Daily News; Dr. Wu Zhiliang, Member of the CPPCC and President of the Board of Directors of the Macao Foundation; and Mr. Francis Lui, Member of the CPPCC and Vice Chairman of GEG, to share the profound spirit of the “Two Sessions” and their insights with GEG’s executives.
The sharing session was held at the JW Marriott Hotel Macau Ballroom at Galaxy Macau™, where approximately 400 GEG executives presented at the event or joined it online. To fully comply with the Macau SAR Government’s policy on COVID-19 prevention and control measures, GEG invited 180 executives to take part in the in-person event, while the other executives from GEG’s offices in Macau, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Hengqin, Shanghai and Yunnan, including those from GEG’s subsidiary – K. Wah Construction Materials, joined via an online live broadcast. To help all team members appreciate the spirit of the “Two Sessions”, highlights from the sharing session will also be replayed in the back-of-house areas of different GEG properties.
During the sharing session, the speakers gave an overview on the “Two Sessions”, and detailed many of the Central Government’s work reports and priorities, including its full support for Hong Kong and Macau to implement the principle of “One Country, Two Systems”, maintain a high degree of autonomy, and ensure prosperity and stability. In addition, they also shared their views on how Macau can achieve further economic diversification and better integrate into the national developments by establishing the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, implementing the principles of “Patriots Governing Macau” and “Patriots Governing Hong Kong”, fostering patriotic and historic education among young people, and improving the pandemic prevention and control work in Macau and Hong Kong. Participating GEG executives also took the opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A session, and benefited from the discussion.
Mr. Lok Po said, “This year, ‘Patriots Governing Macau’ was included in the ‘Report on the Work of the Government’ for the first time, which demonstrates the Central Government’s determination to implement the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle. ‘Patriots Governing Macau’ will support Macau’s political, economic, social, and overall development, as well as lay a solid foundation for the successful and robust implementation of ‘One Country, Two Systems’.”
Dr. Wu Zhiliang said, “By upholding the principle of ‘loving the motherland and loving Macau’ and fully integrating into the country’s development, Macau will achieve further prosperity and stability. Macau residents, especially the young generation, should understand the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle correctly, reinforce their national identity and think macro so that they can better contribute to the country and the SAR’s development.”
Mr. Francis Lui thanked CLO for its great support to the event, as well as Mr. Lok Po and Dr. Wu Zhiliang for their generous sharing, which allow GEG executives and team members to gain a deeper understanding of the spirit of the “Two Sessions”. He also said, “Macau can seize many opportunities if it can leverage on the development of the ‘Intensive Cooperation Zone’, the ‘Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’, and put its unique advantages into play. To encourage SMEs and young people in Hong Kong and Macau to participate into national developments, enterprises and governments may consider offering their collaborative support.”
As a patriotic Chinese enterprise that is deeply rooted in Macau, GEG has been promoting the importance of understanding national conditions and the spirit of ‘loving the motherland and loving Macau’ by sharing the country’s latest development and achievements with team members and local youth through a multifaceted approach. GEG is amongst the first to promote and sponsor youth national education programs in Macau, including title-sponsoring the “GEG Macau Cup – Youth National Education Competition” for 13 consecutive years with over 100,000 participants attended; co-organizing the GEG Youth Achievement Program with the Macau Management Association for 11 consecutive years and adding national elements and tours to different Mainland China cities to recent years’ program; and title-sponsoring the “GEG Presents: Popular Science Activities in Schools on Chinese Drones” since 2019 to promote the country’s edge-cutting drone technology to 30 local schools. Since 2021 marked the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (“CPC”), GEG supported the Macau premiere of the “1921” CPC centenary movie to be held at Galaxy Cinemas, and invited local groups and team members to watch the movie and learn of the glorious history and achievements of the CPC. Moreover, GEG also arranged team members for a visit to a large-scale photography exhibition that celebrated the 100th anniversary of the CPC; and supported local services organizations on hosting various celebration activities at Broadway Macau™.
