October 13, 2011 – StarWorld Hotel and Casino (“StarWorld Macau”), the five-star flagship property of Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”), is proud to be entering its fifth years on October 19. In acknowledgment to the contributions made by its team members, a “Long Serving Appreciation Banquet” was held over the past two days with the participation of 3,000 team members who had been working in StarWorld Macau for the past five years. The banquet was graced by a number of senior management including Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG, Mr. Michael Mecca, President & Chief Operating Officer of GEG, Ms. Eileen Lui, Director of Human Resources & Administration of GEG, and Mr. Gabriel Hunterton, Chief Operating Officer of StarWorld Macau.
Believing that each team member was an invaluable asset to GEG, Mr. Francis Lui extended his sincere gratitude to the members who have joined the big family of StarWorld Macau since its establishment, and he said, “We have built up a great team with members working harmoniously with one another towards a common goal and a strong bond has definitely been forged among each member after years of colleagueship. As a responsible corporate citizen, GEG will continue to improve the facilities in order to provide a more enjoyable working environment for our team members.”
Pit-manager of StarWorld Macau Mr. Even Li, who was also invited to the banquet, expressed his heartfelt thanks to GEG for giving him support and opportunities in the past five years. He said, “I was promoted from an entry level position to the managerial level in just five years. During my years in StarWorld Macau, I was also given the invaluable opportunity to visit the gaming facilities in Las Vagas after receiving the honor of ‘Star of the Month’ in 2008. With the joint efforts from every team member, I trust that StarWorld Macau will continue to enjoy success and prosperity!”
To ensure that each member, including those working on rotating shifts, was able to attend this important event, the Appreciation Banquet was divided into twelve sections held over two days. With the participation of 200 team members in each section, the banquet started with the performance by the StarWorld dancers. A short film summarizing the five-year voyage of StarWorld Macau was played amid the banquet for the participants to review the significant accomplishments made by the property in the past five years. Adding to the excitement and fun, all participants were invited to join a lucky draw game with luxurious prizes including smart phones and tablet personal computers.
In celebration of StarWorld Macau’s fifth anniversary, “StarWorld Master Chef Competition and 5th Anniversary Party” will be held on the anniversary day next Wednesday. Six finalists coming from different departments will compete for the crown of StarWorld Master Chef with their exceptional culinary skill. With the aim to share the joy with the community, StarWorld Macau will invite 20 members of the Women’s General Association of Macau to join the senior members to be the judges for the competition. In addition to the birthday traditions such as cutting cake and singing birthday song, in order to make the party unforgettable, the senior members will demonstrate the essence of “Asian Heart” service philosophy by providing warm hospitality to every participated team member.
Committed to creating an ideal working environment for its team members, GEG has improved its facilities in a number of ways including the renovation of the Team Dining Room and building a new entertainment zone for the team members. Until 2011, StarWorld Macau is the employer to 3,693 team members, 2,780 of which have joined the hotel for five year, comprising 75 percent of the total number.
