January 18, 2012 – Continuing its commitment to reaching out to the community, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”)’s Volunteer Team invited more than 100 seniors from Respect Senior General Association of Macau to a lavish luncheon at Galaxy Hotel™ to celebrate the arrival of the Lunar New Year. The delightful event was accented with a number of fun-filled activities which brought festive joy to the elderly participants.
Held at the function rooms of Galaxy Hotel on Wednesday, the “Year of Dragon Welcoming Luncheon” was also attended by a number of senior members including Ms. Eileen Lui, Director of Human Resources & Administration of GEG and Mr. Trevor Martin, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Administration. The luncheon started off with a fun group exercise led by the members of the association to raise awareness of the importance of exercise in maintaining a good health. Though it was the first time for most of the volunteer team members to do the exercise, the members played very well and had a wonderful moment interacting with the elderly people.
After short bouts of exercise, the elderly participants and the volunteer team members were entertained by an enjoyable dining experience accompanied with interesting activities. Having a great time celebrating the Lunar New Year with the volunteer team members, Ms. O Yen, 66 year old, was very pleased with the thoughtful arrangement of the team. “GEG Volunteer Team has been very considerate in selecting the food for the elderly people like us. I enjoy everything in the luncheon, including the food and the cheerful activities they prepared for us,” she said.
Mr. Robert Chan, Director of Respect Senior General Association expressed his sincere gratitude to GEG Volunteer Team and said, “Lunar New Year is a very important festival to the elderly people. Thanks to GEG Volunteer Team, the seniors are given an opportunity to get together before the New Year to exchange greetings and blessings. This will certainly provide some extra New Year joy to them.” As a token of heartwarming blessings, the volunteer team members, accompanied by the “Fortune of God”, distributed New Year gifts and red pockets to the delighted participants. Finally, the meaningful event was concluded joyfully with an exciting guessing game and an opera song sang together by the volunteer team members and the participants.
