February 4, 2015 – In celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) joined hands with TONI&GUY in organizing a volunteer activity where five professional hairdressers offered complimentary haircuts to elderlies at Galaxy Macau™ on Monday. Twenty-three elderly members of Macau Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society took part in the activity and were also offered refreshments, interactive games and blessings from GEG volunteers.
The Tung Sin Tong representatives who accompanied the elderlies were greatly appreciative and said, “This hair-cutting event was very meaningful to us not only because our elderlies received new haircuts, but more importantly because they were able to feel the care and respect from the community during this festive season.”
Despite the complimentary service, Ms. Rudy Chan, a professional hairdresser who is now a sixth-year veteran at TONI&GUY, was very attentive and constantly asked her elderly “customers” for feedback during the hair-cutting process saying, “Is this too long?”, “Do you like this hairstyle?” and would receive beaming smiles from her elderly “customers”. Another professional hairdresser, Mr. Angus Sin, said, “It’s really satisfying to be able to give the elderly a refreshing yet easily manageable hairstyle, and especially to see smiles across their faces. The contentment that you feel is beyond words. I didn’t know that helping others could actually be this amazing and this event was really meaningful!”
While waiting for their haircuts, the elderlies enjoyed singing karaoke and playing interactive games with the GEG volunteers. And within only two hours, five professional hairdressers provided twenty-three elderlies with a radiant new look, beaming smiles, and rewarding contentment that was shared by all parties. Moving forward, the GEG volunteer team hopes that they can continue to organize other volunteer activities that will spread warmth and care to the wider community.
