August 6, 2015 – The “GEG Macau Cup – 7th Youth National Education Competition” organized by the National Conditions Education (Macau) Association and title sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) was successfully completed. After the competition, winners joined the six-day trip to Shenyang and Fushun of Liaoning province and visited 9.18 Historical Museum, Ping Ding Shan Massacre Memorial Hall, Marshal Zhang’s Mansion, Shenyang Palace Museum and more. The trip fostered a deeper understanding of the students’ development and traditional culture of China and also enhanced their patriotic spirit through the study of the Sino-Japanese war.
A group of sixteen students and teachers departed on 24th July and headed to Shenyang and Fushun for the visitation. They were received by the Fushun Municipal Political Consultative Conference President Mr. Zhang Min, Vice President Mr. Wang Zhen Dong and Secretary-General Mr. Yang Xiao Shi. President Zhang introduced the overall picture of Fushun and the significant position of the city during the Sino-Japanese war. Commemorations were held around the world as this year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people’s war of resistance against Japanese aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Liaoning province played a crucial role during the war after the breakout of the “Manchuria Incident” when Japanese invaded China, unveiling the resistance of the anti-Fascist war of the world. The students also left footprints in Shenyang and were impressed by the advanced industrial development of the country while further enhancing their contributions and patriotism for the future of the country.
Students commented that they benefited a lot from this trip. One of the students, Du Zhi, said that the tour had a great impact on him, especially during the visit of 9.18 Historical Museum where the docent pragmatically told him the history of the precious photos and relics. He was struck by the in-depth pain from the war and realized the importance of peace. Meanwhile, GEG Vice President of Public Relations, Mr. Buddy Lam, remarked that visiting Shenyang and Fushun this year is exceptionally meaningful for students to increase their understanding in the history and industrial development of the country, as well as to promote the cultural and educational exchange between Liaoning and Macau.
National Conditions Education (Macau) Association held the seventh year of “GEG Macau Cup - Youth National Education Competition” and this year’s theme is “National humiliation not to be forgotten; National dream shall be endeavored” in memory of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people’s war of resistance against Japanese aggression and the World anti-Fascist War. The Association President Mr. Jack Wang said that the winners were selected among 6,000 students and hence, by offering them the chance to Liaoning province to witness the industrial development, the trip shall enlighten their enthusiastic passion for the country and engage them for contributions in the social and cultural development in the future.
