GEG Held Blessing Ceremony for the “2017 Macau International Dragon Boat Races”

May 10, 2017 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) endeavors to support the development of local sports and tourism as well as the promotion of traditional Chinese sports. As an enduringly popular festive celebration, the Macau International Dragon Boat Races attracts huge numbers of local residents and tourists every year. This year GEG continues to send six boats to participate in this international sporting event.
Over 100 GEG team members joined the blessing ceremony held at noon at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre to bestow good luck upon the 59 dragon boat team members and the six dragon boats, including Galaxy Stars, Galaxy Pearl, Galaxy Universe, Galaxy Glamour, Galaxy Phoenix and Galaxy Elegance. GEG executive members including Mr. Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer, Macau, GEG, Mr. Raymond Yap, Senior Director of International Premium and Mass Market Development, Mr. Richard Longhurst, Director of Operations of Galaxy Macau™ and Director of Gaming Development and Optimization Service, Mr. Trevor Martin, Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG, Mr. Jerry Soh, Vice President of Gaming, StarWorld Hotel and Ms. Joanna Barnes, Chairperson of GEG Staff Social Club, officiated the rituals of eye-dotting and sharing roasted pig, followed by the distribution of red packets to dragon boat team members as a form of support and encouragement as well as wishing them good luck in the races.
GEG cares about its team members and proactively encourages them to improve their physical and emotional well-being with sports. Under GEG’s support, the GEG Dragon Boat Team has garnered numerous awards and is competing for the 12th consecutive year in the Macau International Dragon Boat Races. Moreover, to help improve the professional skills, the team members visited the Jiujiang Training Center of China Dragon Boat Sports Demonstration Base, Jiujiang Town, Nanhai District last year. Tyson Hoi, Captain of the GEG Dragon Boat Team said, “I’m very grateful to the full support of the company. I also want to thank our colleagues for their commitment to the dragon boat sport. They spend their spare time for intensive training sessions and nurture an incredible sense of teamwork. I hope that we can unleash our passion to achieve a good result again this year.”
