GEG Awarded Big for Occupational Safety and Health

June 6, 2017 – Receiving 27 awards, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) was the biggest winner in the 2016 DSAL Catering Industry Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Program operated by the Labor Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government, which recognizes and demonstrates GEG’s commitment to provide a safety and healthy environment for its team members.
GEG received the Silver Award for Organization Safety Performance, the only corporation being recognized with the Award for two consecutive years. GEG’s flagship property Galaxy Macau™ scooped up 20 awards and StarWorld Macau received six awards. In particular, Laurel at Galaxy Macau was awarded the Gold Award in the category of Chinese Restaurants (Group A), whereas Laurel at StarWorld received the Silver Award in the same category. In the category of Hotel Restaurants, Feng Wei Ju received the Bronze Award in Group A, whilst Terrazza Italian Restaurant and Myung Ga respectively received the Silver Award and the Bronze Award in Group C. Furthermore, GEG received the Silver Award and the Bronze Award in the category of Excellent Safety Performance Management Staff (Local), as well as the Silver Award and the Bronze Award in the Non-Local group.

In the future, GEG will continue our culture of promoting occupational health and safety awareness in our restaurants,” added Mr. Chan.
As a responsible corporate citizen, GEG continues to build its safety procedures and control measures. Galaxy Macau is the only integrated resort that has achieved the Integrated Management System Certification. The certification is comprised of the ISO 14001 EMS Certification and the British Standards (BS) OHSAS 18001, which it received in 2013 and 2015 respectively. This is in addition to its safety management system that was set up in 2011 in accordance with Factories and Industrial Undertakings Regulations.
So far in 2017, Galaxy Macau has conducted 20 F&B-related OSH trainings for approximately 500 team members. Team members’ OSH awareness is also maintained via video screens in the back-of-house areas and through quizzes and competitions.
