July 11, 2017 – Winning game after game, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) Basketball Team A claimed the grand trophy in this year’s Gaming Employees Basketball Competition. This is the sixth time in seven years that a GEG team has taken the championship title. Meanwhile, GEG Basketball Team B won the second runner-up title.
Co-organized by Gaming Employees Home and the Macao Federation of Trade Unions’ Sports Committee and held at the Workers Stadium, the tournament attracted 13 teams to participate in the competitions. Having won all preliminary rounds and semi-finals, GEG Basketball Team A met its final rival on Monday. Cheered on by dozens of GEG executives and employees, the team won the final 78-66. Team B garnered the second runner-up title in the game, beating its opponent 72-66.
The captain of the GEG Basketball Team, Nino Songco, said each of his team’s players should be credited for the achievement. “Our victory is attributable to teamwork and a unified team spirit. We are thankful to the company for its support so that we always have sufficient time to rest and prepare for the games outside of work,” he said. He also expressed his gratitude to fellow GEG employees for cheering them on throughout the tournament.
GEG congratulates the basketball teams on their outstanding performances. GEG is dedicated to promoting recreation and sports in Macau as well as supporting the comprehensive development of its employees, who are encouraged to participate in various sporting competitions, including the Macau International Dragon Boat Races, the Gaming Employees Basketball Competition, the Macau Gaming Industry Laborers Association Table Tennis Tournament and the Macau Tug of War Open Competition. GEG will continue to organize different recreational and sporting activities for its employees to help them develop their talents and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
