April 4, 2018 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) supports the Macau SAR Government’s development strategy of “letting Macau thrive through education” and attaches great importance to nurturing young talent for the sustainable development of the Macau community. Since 2011, GEG has been cooperating with the Macau Management Association to organize the GEG Youth Achievement Program (“YAP”), aiming at providing a platform for young people to broaden their horizons and give full play to their potential. This year marks the seventh YAP and focuses on career development, with the aim of laying a solid foundation for participants’ future development via a holistic approach including a variety of workshops, seminars, experience camps and study tours. Additionally, to encourage participants’ aspirations, this year’s YAP focuses on knowledge of national policies, including the Belt and Road Initiatives and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area Development. Participants will also learn about China’s current growth and economic trends via visits and exchanges.
Recently, the YAP held its two-day Team-Building and Leadership Camp and Galaxy Macau™ Game Day to encourage participants to challenge and improve themselves. This camp was the first activity of the seventh YAP. With the aim of encouraging teamwork, unity and a sense of belonging, the events were also designed to develop self-awareness and a sense of community care. The camp was held on Zhuhai’s first organic farm operating on the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. Participants were introduced to the business model and operating concepts of risk and revenue sharing, as well as the principles of environmental protection and healthy lifestyle through farming and cultivation activities. They also learnt that the farm fulfills its corporate social responsibility by protecting the health of consumers and the environment while developing its business. The camp encouraged participants to reflect on the relationship between personal and enterprise development, market economy progression and sustainable community development.
The Galaxy Macau Game Day aimed to promote participants’ strategic management and resource allocation abilities. The activity was conducted in the form of a Monopoly-style board game. Participants were divided into six small groups. Team leaders led groups in carrying out comprehensive analyses on the given missions. They had to arrive at six mission points at Galaxy Macau and select the difficulty level of the missions according to the strengths and abilities of their group members to complete the challenges together. In addition, this activity was organized by six YAP Ambassadors. “I was only a participant last year. This year I’m honored to be an ambassador and given the opportunity to organize the activity, from which I’ve benefited a lot. More importantly, I can share my learning and experience with the other participants and help them to grow. This is a meaningful experience for me,” related Ms. Aida Lam, one of the YAP Ambassadors.
Over the past seven years, the GEG YAP has attracted over 2,600 participants aged between 18 and 29. The Champion Team in the YAP Final Competition will be awarded with an Asian City Study Tour sponsored by GEG. The YAP organizes tours to various places related to career development and community care. In previous years, participants visited local enterprises and non-profit organizations and interacted with entrepreneurs and business operators in South Korea, Singapore, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Brunei.
