December 9, 2018 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) is committed to creating opportunities for teenagers to expand their horizons. As part of the “Olympic Gold Medalists Visit Macau Series Activities – Energetic Visit”, GEG invited three renowned Olympic athletes – gymnast Li Shanshan, table tennis player Xu Xin and badminton player Wang Xin – to share their experience of the Olympic Games with 200 students of the University of Macau’s Lui Che Woo College (“LCWC”).
The three gold medalists were escorted by Judiciary Police Junior Anti-Crime Pioneers to the college, where they were welcomed by 200 enthusiastic students. The athletes talked about their experience as Olympic athletes and encouraged the students to manage stress by enjoying process rather than focusing solely on results. The sharing session was ebullient, with one student after another raising questions and queuing to take pictures with the gold medalists. After the sharing session, the athletes toured the LCWC facilities. To impress the great significance and engineering feat of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge on the students, GEG invited the students to watch the documentary “The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge” at the UA Galaxy Cinema. And Mr. Buddy Lam, Senior Vice President of Public Relations of GEG, presented a movie ticket to Professor Yip Ming-Chuen, College Master of LCWC, in the company of the three gold medal winners.
Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG, said, “The success of the gold medalists was achieved through sportsmanship and strenuous training, which sets a good example for teenagers. GEG hopes that students will be inspired by the face-to-face interaction with gold medalists and that an optimistic spirit will steer them through their future careers. In addition, GEG has arranged ‘The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge’ documentary screening for these students. It is hoped that by grasping the devotion of and the challenges faced by the builders of the world-renowned Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, students will foster a positive mindset, as well as keep abreast of national power and conditions, which is another great opportunity for national education.”
GEG once again this year sponsored the gold medalists’ accommodation at Galaxy Macau™. The delegation of gold medalists included “Prince of Gymnastics” Mr. Li Ning, Mr. Li Xiaopeng, Ms. Li Shanshan, Mr. Fu Haifeng, Ms. Wang Xin, Mr. Liu Guoliang, Mr. Zhang Jike, Mr. Xu Xin, Ms. Ding Ning and Ms. Liu Siwen. Besides supporting the Olympic Gold Medalists Visit Macau Series Activities by providing accommodation, GEG throughout the years has also arranged multiple sharing sessions to allow more local people to be inspired by the gold medalists’ heroic spirit. Last year, GEG arranged for gold medalists to join an early Christmas celebration with the students of Escola Caritas de Macau at Santa’s Grotto in Galaxy Macau’s East Square. In 2016, GEG arranged for the athletes to enjoy local dishes with Fu Hong Society members at the Broadway Food Street at Broadway Macau™.
