January 7, 2019 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) encourages team members to give full play to their talents and broaden their horizons by participating in various local and international competitions. GEG employees’ professional skills shone in the 2018 Macao Occupational Skills Recognition System (MORS) Gold Pin Competition as team members participated for the tenth consecutive year.
The competition attracted 368 contestants from 39 organizations, after vigorous competitions with representatives from other hotels, 6 GEG team members were selected to advance to the final round. Ms. Kong Man from the Security Department of Galaxy Macau™ took Gold Pin Award in the category of Security Officer for Tourism and Gaming Industry. Kong was awarded a MORS Gold Pin, a cash award of MOP8,000, a scholarship of MOP2,000 for tourism and hospitality training courses, and a certificate.
“The final contest required the contestants to complete some basic bandage treatment and tested contestants’ spot performance through scenario questions,” explained Gold Pin winner Ms. Kong Man, Security Officer for the Tourism and Gaming Industry from Galaxy Macau. “As the only female contestant in the final competition of this category, I was not very confident in myself, considering that the security industry is dominated by men. During the competition, I also managed to apply the knowledge I acquired from a Red Cross course arranged by my company. I would also like to thank my colleagues from the training team for their valuable advice and support. All of them equipped me and gave me the confidence I needed to win the competition,” she said.
GEG attaches great importance to career and profession development. At the 2017 WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi, Ronnie Cheng, a talented young engineer in the Facilities Management Department of Galaxy Macau, was the sole competitor from Macau. GEG will continue to organize diverse training opportunities and resources for team members, supporting them as they equip themselves to support world-class facilities and offer outstanding service to guests from around the world, contributing to Macau’s development into a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure.”
