March 5, 2019 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) regularly hosts a range of sports activities for its employees to promote work-life balance. Recently, GEG’s Staff Social Club organized a Chinese New Year Soccer Fun Day at the Macao Federation of Trade Unions Workers Stadium, attracting over 300 participants. In addition to the friendship matches between GEG team members, a performance match between GEG’s senior executives and the Osaka Female Soccer Club, one of the competing clubs in the 2018 Macau Women League, was also staged. The excitement of the games was elevated by the GEG Soccer Carnival held at the fringe of the field, where family-friendly game booths added a warm, cheery note to the event.
With team members being a valuable asset, GEG has been arranging various sporting and parent-child activities to boost employees’ wellbeing and promote a healthy work-life balance. In its sixth year, the Chinese New Year Soccer Fun Day incorporated new elements such as the football-themed game booths and snack stations, as well as a Polaroid photo booth. Many team members brought their children to the Fun Day to enjoy a wonderful day of family bonding.
On the soccer pitch, seven competing teams were formed by team members from the Security, Surveillance, Table Games, Housekeeping, Public Area, Engineering, Facilities, and IPMMA Departments of Galaxy Macau™, as well as representatives from JW Marriot. Led by their respective coaches and upholding the spirit of “Friendship First, Competition Second”, the players displayed exceptional skills and agility. Spectators also enjoyed a performance match between the senior executives and the Osaka Female Soccer Club. The participating executives expressed their appreciation to this 45-minute match, where they were impressed by the professional players’ endurance and team spirit. Moreover, many off-duty team members and families of the players came to cheer at the games, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the spectator stands. In the end, the Security Department overcame strong rivals to win the championship. Mr. Bahadur Karki Sal, captain of the winning Security Department team, said, “Thanks to the arrangement made by the company and Staff Social Club, football fans like us can play and learn from each other. I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude towards my team for their strong performance, which made it possible for us to win the game. Furthermore, I have enjoyed meeting other football lovers in the GEG family and hope to continue to inspire one another and improve together.”
GEG also encourages team members to take part in local sports tournaments such as the Macau International Dragon Boat Races, the Gaming Employees Basketball Competition, the Macau Gaming Industry Laborers Association Table Tennis Tournament and the Macau Tug of War Open Competition. Moving forward, GEG will continue to encourage its team members to maintain a healthy work-life balance, as well as build a strong team spirit through a diverse range of activities.
