GEG Holds Blessing Ceremony for 2019 Macau International Dragon Boat Races
May 22, 2019 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) recognizes the importance of maintaining healthy work-life balance and frequently organizes sports activities for employees to support their pursuit of physical and emotional well-being through sports. GEG is proud to be sending six teams composed of team members from different properties and departments to compete in the 2019 Macau International Dragon Boat Races.
Over 100 GEG team members joined the blessing ceremony held earlier at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre to bestow good luck on the 60 GEG Dragon Boat Team members and the six GEG dragon boats: Galaxy Stars, Galaxy Pearl, Galaxy Universe, Galaxy Glamour, Galaxy Phoenix and Galaxy Elegance.
The ceremony was officiated by Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG; and Mr. Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer – Macau of GEG; Mr. Raymond Yap, Senior Director of International Premium and Mass Market Development; Mr. Richard Longhurst, Director of Operations of Galaxy Macau™ and Director of Gaming Development and Optimization Services; Mr. Andy Lee, Deputy Director of Operations of StarWorld; Mr. William Gibbon, Senior Vice president – HR Centre of Excellence, Human Resources & Administration and Ms. Trancy Koh, Chairperson of the Staff Social Club of GEG. The executives officiated the ritual eye dotting and sharing of the roasted pig, followed by the distribution of red packets to dragon boat team members as a gesture of support and a wish of good luck in the races.
With sports being a great way for maintaining work-life balance and enhancing team members’ physical and emotional well-being, in addition to dragon boating, GEG organizes basketball games, soccer games and interdepartmental bowling challenges for team members to participate. The GEG Dragon Boat Team garnered numerous awards, and this will be its 14th consecutive year competing in the Macau International Dragon Boat Races. Tyson Hoi, the Coach and Captain of the team, said, “I’m very grateful that the company provides full support to the dragon boat team. It is a traditional activity that strengthens team communication and cooperation. I also want to thank our team for spending extra hours and effort on dragon boat practice. The dragon boat team members come from various departments of GEG’s different properties. Without the support from and coordination of the company, the various departments and our colleagues, it would not be possible for the whole team to gather together to practice. I hope that we can unleash our passion to achieve a good result again this year.”
