December 10, 2019–Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) encourages team members to give full play to their talents and broaden their horizons by participating in various competitions. Two GEG team members received Gold Pin awards in the 2019 Macao Occupational Skills Recognition System (MORS) Gold Pin Competition, a testament to the GEG team’s high standard of service.
To commend outstanding professionals, the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies organizes its annual Gold Pin Competition, which this year covered 10 categories and hosted 354 contestants from 37 organizations. After vigorous competitions with representatives from other hotels, Mr. Yang Mingdi from StarWorld Hotel took the Gold Pin Award in the category of Chinese Cook - Cantonese Cuisine (Intermediate Level), and Mr. Ron Alvin Adriano Aransay from Galaxy Macau™ took the Gold Pin Award in the category of Bartender. In addition to their Gold Pins, each received a cash award of MOP8,000, a scholarship of MOP2,000 for tourism and hospitality training courses, and a certificate.
Yang, who has worked at StarWorld Hotel for almost ten years, said, “The competition requires two dishes to be prepared within a specific time. The whole process is very compact and exciting, but I have benefited a lot from it. I am very happy to get this award, and I have to thank the company for supporting me to participate in this competition. In addition, my supervisor and colleagues have also given me a lot of encouragement, allowing me to participate in the competition with confidence and stand out from many competitors.”
GEG team members have been participating in the competition for 11 consecutive years, receiving many awards. In the future, GEG will continue to provide team members with diverse training and career development opportunities to support their comprehensive development, so as to offer world-class facilities and outstanding "Asian Heart" service to visitors, contributing to Macau’s development into a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure.”
