GEG Invites NPC and CPPCC Delegates to Share the Spirit of the “Two Sessions”
- 1. GEG invited NPC and CPPCC delegates to share their insights of the “Two Sessions” with over 200 GEG senior executives from different nationalities.

Mr. Chen Guo Kai, Director General of the Economic Affairs Department of the CLO in the Macau SAR, praised Macau’s enterprises including GEG for their recent efforts on inviting NPC and CPPCC delegates to conduct sharing sessions with their respective members and for promoting the spirit of the “Two Sessions”.

He used different keywords to describe the spirit of the “Two Sessions” to GEG’s executives, which included “COVID-19”, “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area”, “Hong Kong National Security Law” and “National Economy Focuses for This Year”.

June 18, 2020 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) proactively organizes many types of activities to enhance team members’ understanding of the development in China. Inspired by the Third Plenary Session of the 13th National People’s Congress (“NPC”) and the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (“CPPCC”), which are also known as the “Two Sessions”, GEG recently hosted a sharing session where Mr. Ma Iao Lai, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the 13th CPPCC; Mr. Lao Ngai Leong, Deputy of the 13th NPC and the Head of the Macau Delegation; and Mr. Francis Lui, National Committee Member of the 13th CPPCC and Vice Chairman of GEG were invited to share their insights of the “Two Sessions” with GEG’s senior executives. While Mr. Lui joined the event via online video conference, attending guests of honors also included Mr. Chen Guo Kai, Director General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government (“CLO”) in the Macau SAR; and Mr. Leong Man Ion, Deputy Director of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau of the Macau SAR.
The sharing session was held at the JW Marriott Hotel Macau Ballroom at Galaxy Macau™. Over 200 executives from different nationalities took part in the event. Executives from GEG’s offices in Hong Kong and Mainland China, and those from GEG’s subsidiary – K. Wah Construction Materials, also participated by joining the online live broadcast. In his speech, Mr. Chen Guo Kai, Director General of the Economic Affairs Department of the CLO in the Macau SAR, said, “Including GEG, a lot of Macau’s enterprises and social organizations need to be applauded for their recent efforts on inviting NPC and CPPCC delegates to conduct sharing sessions with their respective members and for promoting the spirit of the ‘Two Sessions’. These sessions have deepened citizens’ understanding for China’s national policies and development trajectory, popularized and promoted national education, as well as garnering support for the integration of Hong Kong and Macau into the construction and development of the country.”
During the sharing session, Mr. Ma Iao Lai, Mr. Lao Ngai Leong and Mr. Francis Lui gave an overview on the “Two Sessions”, and detailed many of the Central Government’s work reports and priorities. They also shared their own perspectives on the promotion of economic recovery following the pandemic, the opportunities that Macau has for integration with China’s national development, and the smooth and long-term successful practice of “One Country, Two Systems”. In addition, participating GEG executives were also given the opportunity to ask the three keynote speakers some questions during a Q&A session, during which the speakers shared additional and more in-depth insight into the spirit of the “Two Sessions”.
Mr. Ma Iao Lai gave a summary of the speech that President Xi Jinping had made during the “Two Sessions”. He highlighted, “The spirit of President Xi’s speech guides CPPCC’s work into the new era and provides a core for China’s political democracy. His speech was significant and allows Macau’s business community to better understand the direction of the countries’ national policies so that Macau can better integrate and benefit from the countries’ national and economic development.”
Mr. Lao Ngai Leong shared with participants that the Central Government’s focuses for this year will cover all aspects of the economy and society. Among them, the priority will be on achieving the “six stabilizations” and “six guarantees”. He said, “This year was the first time in more than 40 years of China’s opening and reform that the Central Government had not set a GDP growth target, which will help all parties to concentrate on achieving the ‘six stabilizations’ and ‘six guarantees’ to stabilize the foundation of China’s economy and establish a moderately prosperous society.” In addition, he introduced the passing of the legislation for Hong Kong National Security Law, and Civil Code.
Through online live broadcasting, Mr. Francis Lui used different keywords to describe the spirit of the “Two Sessions” to GEG’s executives, which included “COVID-19”, “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area”, “Hong Kong National Security Law” and “National Economy Focuses for This Year”. During his sharing, Mr. Lui said, “Since the economic reform and opening of China’s economy in 1980s, its overall strength has been ever growing. There have been significant improvements in many sectors, including the economy, society, human rights, technology, anti-money laundering, rule of law, poverty alleviation, and environmental protection. We should be confident in the Central Government’s continued determination to support Hong Kong and Macau’s prosperity, stability and liberty.”
