“GEG Presents: Popular Science Activities in Schools on Chinese Drones” Inspires Youth Innovation
- 1. GEG has been title-sponsoring the “Popular Science Activities in Schools on Chinese Drones” since last year, and has arranged visits to 9 local schools to promote drone technology.
- 2. During the activity, a variety of China’s new drones were presented to students; precision technology and the application of drones under different settings such as for medical treatment, logistics, and disaster relief were also introduced.
- 3. Students were invited to experience the technology by controlling drones under the guidance of technical staff.
- 4. A video of the Aerial Drone Light Show that GEG held last year at Galaxy Macau™ was presented.
- 5. The event ended with a drone show which the teachers and students said was amazing.
December 17, 2020 – Emphasizing on the concept of “education engenders a strong country”, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) supports local youth development and helps young people explore their potential. Supported by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government (“DSEJ”), GEG has been title-sponsoring the “Popular Science Activities in Schools on Chinese Drones” since last year, and has arranged visits to 9 local schools to promote drone technology. Through lectures, video presentations and drone shows, the event introduced the latest development of drones and its application in different fields. GEG will extend the activities to 30 local high schools to stimulate young peoples’ interests in becoming technology and innovation talents.
The activities were held in 4 different local schools this year, namely Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional, Escola Técnica da Federação das Associações dos Operários de Macau, Escola dos Moradores de Macau and Escola Oficial Zheng Guanying. During the activity, a variety of China’s new drones were presented to students. In addition, precision technology and the application of drones under different settings such as for medical treatment, logistics, and disaster relief were also introduced. Besides, students were invited to try controlling the drones under the guidance of technical staff. Furthermore, videos of the aerial drone light shows in different places, including the one celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Macau SAR and the 2019 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon that GEG held last year at Galaxy Macau™ was also presented to show teachers and students how 300 drones can be arranged for a synchronized with lasers, lights and sound effects to create a fascinating performance. Afterwards, the event ended with a drone show, which the teachers and students said was amazing, and helped deepen their appreciation, interest, and understanding to the rapid technological advancement in China.
GEG has been supporting STEM activities to promote STEM education in Macau, including the “RoboMaster 2020 Macau Youth Robotics Competition” held earlier. GEG sponsored the Broadway Theater at Broadway Macau™ as the venue for the competition, and provided equipment and technical support. Before the championship competition, 50 students from 25 local schools, along with the representatives from DSEJ and the organizer, visited the venue to learn about the competition’s application of artificial intelligence and to be inspired to pursue their creativity, innovation, and interest in technology and related fields. Moving forward, GEG will continue to invest in local talent development.
